La chanteuse de r&b Cassandra Ventura alias Cassie,voit le jour le 26 aout 1986 à New london dans le Connecticut aux Etas Unis. Aprés avoir fait ses études secondaires. Sa carrière musicale démarre en 2005, lorsque son ami et protecteur, le chanteur de soul Ryan Leslie l'invite sur le morceau « Kiss Me »qu'elle à ecrit pour sa maman,qu'ils presentent à Tommy Mottola. L'été de la même année, elle enregistre son premier single « Me & U », une excellente chanson mélancolique proche du trip-hop, produite par Ryan. Une agréable tournée en Allemagne la convaincu qu'elle est sur la bonne voie. Avec Ryan et Diddy, elle entreprend alors l'enregistrement de son premier LP éponyme.Sorti en 2006 il mêle toutes sortes d'influences : pop, soul, hip-hop, de façon assez atypique, et souvent, hypnotique! Et la nouvelle chanteuse reçoit un succès au-delà de ses espérances. Ce qui ne l'empêche pas de continuer à se produire comme mannequin : on peut ainsi la voir soutenir la collection de sportswear lancée par Missy Elliot.
